MY BACKGROUND

I am a ballroom, swing, and contemporary dancer, as well as an experienced choreographer for ballroom, theater, and contemporary dances.  I have danced for over 15 years and have been choreographing dances for ballroom and contemporary dance for the last 7 years.

I grew up in Idaho Falls and started my ballroom training through the Idaho Ballroom Academy.  During my high school years I also competed throughout Idaho and Utah in Latin, Standard, and American style ballroom.  I enjoyed learning all styles but I excelled in the Standard and Smooth American styles.

 

After graduating from high school I attended BYU-Idaho where I continued my ballroom dance training but also was introduced to the world of swing.  I joined the campus Lindy swing team where we performed for local events and taught Lindy swing.  While getting my minor in dance I was also introduced to modern and contemporary forms of dance.  In 2011 I had the opportunity to be a member of their semi-professional dance company, Dance Alliance, where I was able to tour with the company through Texas.  The following year I was the Ballroom Dance Artistic Director for the universality's Collegiate Dance Company, choreographing four dances and a foxtrot duet.

I am passionate about dance. Although I love all forms of dance what I like to share and teach is the joy of partner and social dancing.  Between the structured movement of ballroom, the carefree style of swing, and the free expression of contemporary dance my teaching style is very pliable to meet the needs of those I teach.
